forever caught up in the game

Sept 7th, 1994- This day has been a blur. All the people, all the tears and sadness. My mom, aunt and grandma all sitting close to each other sobbing. People coming up to them giving there condolences. Some I know others are complete strangers. My grandpa lying in the casket. His day had come at 69 too young, he was still so full of life still had a lot left to do. The booze beat him all the fun he liked to have gone forever lost in that bottle. I won't let it stay there though its time for me to have the fun it is my 17th birthday, the same day as my grandpas funeral it has to be. After all this stuff is over I will be having one big bash myself.
    That night I got hammered drunk for the first time.  Now I had gone to parties and drank a beer or two but this was my first experience with vodka.
Once I started I just couldn't get enough we started going to Tijuana on Fri nights, $5 all u can drink, bon fire parties on the beach sat nights. Lots of booze, girls and drugs. I went from a jock to a rebel. It was fresh, new and that made it fun.
  I was 17 having the time of my life. I was still maintaining a b average and for the first time in high school I was picking up women. Man the things I missed playing sports. How long could I keep it from my mom? Could I keep up my grades? How far would I go just to have fun???
